Snehal Ekbote

Artist

Artist nurtures through the experience. The travels one makes gives you a variety of experiences. It shows you various landscapes, you meet many people and you encounter many perspectives. This is what inspires Snehal Ekbote as a painter. Artist born and brought up in Nashik has done her Bachelor and Master’s in Visual Art Education from Mumbai’s S.N.D.T. Women’s University in 2011.

Since then, her work has been exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Ujjain. Recently her art installation of abstract paintings “Conditional Perception/ सापेक्ष दृष्टिकोन” was a part of exhibition ‘Out of The Box’ curated by Raju Sutar. Before pandemic, she got the unique opportunity to be a part of Raigad Activista showing the edges of life of textile mill workers of Girgaon, Mumbai through many photographs she has clicked.

Snehal is an avid traveller and it takes you to various landscapes. Inspirations from mother nature brings unique style of using “रेखा आणि बिंदू” (lines and dots) as a form of her art. She believes that every human is born as an artist and to bring it out and improve the lives of people, she conducts workshops called “भाषा चित्रांची” (language of paintings) for women from underprivileged sections of society. She wishes to keep her artistic soul alive by keeping a wider perspective and by being connected to nature, the true artist of the world.

Through her new series Reshakar, she has tried understanding these patterns that exist within us as much as outside of us. Lines have stood resiliently for all the mind-states that I went through over the years. They came across as beautiful and strange revelations on journeys. This exhibition is a culmination of all the lines that flashed before my eyes before finally making their way on these canvasses. Reshakar is a confluence of everything I have been experiencing, through a non-linear narrative of lines. Unraveling the language of the unknown.
